News | Ghostwire: Tokyo director ponders sequels and DLC

Kenji Kimura, the director of Ghostwire: Tokyo, would like to make expansions and sequels to the game.

He reports this in an interview with IGN Japan which is translated by GamesRadar. Although nothing is known about the future of the new franchise, he says he would like to return to this game world. “Once we’re calmer again, I’ll have ideas for DLC and sequels, and I want to make them. Nothing’s set yet, so I can’t share anything else.”

The game scored an 9.0 on GamersInfuzed: “Ghostwire: Tokyo is bursting with originality and also looks great. Still, that can’t prevent that typical rut of open world games creeps in towards the end of the game.”

Ghostwire: Tokyo was released earlier this year for PlayStation 5 and PC. The game will be console-exclusive for PlayStation 5 for a year, so it could come to Xbox consoles after March 25, 2023.

News | Path of Exile Sentinel Expansion Revealed

Grinding Gear Games unveils the latest Path of Exile expansion, titled Sentinel, featuring new gameplay systems, quality of life tweaks, and a new challenge league.

The Sentinel expansion centers around the titular Sentinels, small drone-like creatures that players can deploy to make encounters with enemies even more difficult, increasing the associated reward. Sentinels can be found by killing enemies and each has a color that indicates what kind of power they possess, as well as some randomly generated stats and perks.

Red ‘Stalker’ Sentinels will continue to fly near the player and temporarily increase the stats of enemies they spot. Blue “Pandemonium” Sentinels instantly buff all enemies in the area. Yellow ‘Apex’ Sentinels work just like the red ones, but only focus on weird, unique, or boss enemies. Each Sentinel type can be deployed once per area.

After being used a few times, a Sentinel’s battery will run out, and two of these spent Sentinels can be combined with a Power Core into a new, fully charged Sentinel, with some powers from both ‘parents’. The Sentinel Controller Panel allows players to select some buffs and benefits that apply to all of their Sentinels.

The Sentinel expansion adds 20 new keystone nodes to the Atlas skill tree, allowing players to further personalize their characters. There will also be ‘uber’ versions of six bosses coming to the game, which can have new Jewels as rewards, as well as a slew of quality of life tweaks and UI tweaks.

During the livestream revealing the Sentinel expansion, Grinding Gear Games co-founder Chris Wilson discussed controller support for the PC version. After some beta testing, feedback and suggestions from the players have been incorporated, which means that controller support will now “officially launch”. That means that the game can also be played on the Steam Deck from the new update.

Path of Exile’s Sentinel expansion will be available for free starting May 13.

News | Horizon Forbidden West Player Discovers Possible DLC Area

A player of Guerilla's Horizon Forbidden West may have discovered an area in the game that will be unlocked for an expansion in the future.

Reddit visitor lost48 shows an area in the east of the game world in a short video. There is a high mountain with a detailed ruin, where even climbable ledges are present. However, the area cannot be reached in-game as it is outside the official world map.

Fans speculate that the area discovered could mean two things: either it’s earmarked for a future expansion of the game, or it’s an area that was originally supposed to be part of the game, but ultimately didn’t.

No expansion for Horizon Forbidden West has yet been announced. For the first part in the series, Horizon Zero Dawn, a major expansion has appeared in the form of The Frozen Wilds. This added a new area to the world map, prompting fans to speculate that something similar is going to happen to Forbidden West.

Earlier, developer Guerrilla Games indicated that it would like to develop a third game in the Horizon series. “We’re going to end the game with a big cliffhanger. That’s how we get things going again for the next game.”

News | Paid Outriders Expansion Announced

A paid expansion for Outriders called Worldslayer is coming on June 30th

The expansion will be released on June 30 and will feature an all-new campaign story, higher level caps, new gear, a new difficulty setting, and new endgame content. The campaign is separate from the main game. Players will take on a new Altered enemy, Ereshkigal. The planet Enoch is being explored more with new environments.

Existing players can continue playing with their character, but it is also possible to jump straight to level 30 with a new character and start the expansion. The expansion contains a total of almost 100 new legendary items.

At level 30, a new skill tree will also become available, the PAX tree, which will further develop existing classes in the game with specializations. There is also a new progression system called Ascension, which is earned by fighting battles. XP earned after level thirty goes to the Ascension level, which gives you points to improve the character.

Trial of Tarya Gratar is new endgame content and should be separate from Expeditions from the main game. More details to be shared by Square Enix at a later date.

News | First major Cyberpunk 2077 expansion coming in 2023

The first paid expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 is due out sometime next year.

CD Projekt Red announced this yesterday during the presentation of its quarterly figures. Apart from the fact that there is a new storyline, the company did not give any details about what the expansion entails, but it is clear that players no longer have to count on it this year.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in late 2020 and was criticized for the state of the game. Last year and this year, the developer has released several updates to get the game up to standard.

As well as working on an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red is also working on a current gen update for The Witcher 3. That update was originally supposed to be released during the current quarter, but has now been postponed indefinitely. The company also announced earlier this year that it was working on a new The Witcher game. Work is also underway on a spin-off of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game and several unannounced projects in concept phase.
