News | First Splinter Cell remake artwork shown

Ubisoft has shown off the first artwork from the upcoming Splinter Cell remake in an in-depth video about the franchise.

The twenty-minute video covers twenty years of franchise history. In addition, four developers who are working on the upcoming remake of the first Splinter Cell are given the opportunity to talk about various aspects of the game.

Artwork from the game is also shown throughout the video, which can be seen below along with the video. For example, you can see how Sam Fisher squats above a kind of lobby and an attractive, rainy building is shown. In any case, the artwork exudes the atmosphere of the classic Splinter Cell series.

The complete video also covers past Splinter Cell games, for example, how Pandora Tomorrow was a part of Xbox Live’s success, but there is occasional talk of the remake as well. For example, Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine would help a lot to pull the game into modern times. In addition, the developers emphasize that it will not be a “simple remake”, but that the game will be made from scratch. In addition, the remake should “serve as a good foundation for the future of the franchise”.

Ubisoft announced last December that it is working on a remake of the 2002 stealth game Splinter Cell. The Splinter Cell series revolves around a black ops agent named Sam Fisher. He must stop terrorists and other villains in the Splinter Cell games. The last game in the series, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, was released in 2013. There is no release date for the remake yet, but the developers emphasize in the video that the game is still in early production. “We don’t want to rush anything, but make sure we’re doing everything right and delivering an incredible experience.”

Skull and Bones is out November 8 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna. The game features cross play.

News | Assassin's Creed Infinity Brings Players to Japan

During the Ubisoft Forward presentation, Ubisoft revealed the first two games that Assassin's Creed Infinity will launch, namely Codename Red and Codename Hexe.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity should become a hub of sorts for new, future Assassin’s Creed adventures. The game has already been officially announced, but has not yet been shown to the outside world. During the Ubisoft Forward presentation, the developer revealed more information about Infinity, including the first two games or stories.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red is currently the name of one of those two games and is set in Feudal Japan, a popular setting that fans have been asking about for years. In the short images we see a Shinobi landing on a roof. According to Ubisoft, Red will be a full-fledged open-world RPG and not the linear direction that Mirage is going.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe is a bit different than we’re used to. In the short footage, we see a dark forest with a bunch of branches in the shape of the Assassin’s Creed log hanging by a thread. The atmosphere and setting are very reminiscent of some kind of witch theme, similar to what we saw in the Wrath of the Druids expansion of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

A release date for Assassin’s Creed Infinity was not given.

News | First footage of Assassin's Creed Mirage shown

Ubisoft officially revealed Assassin's Creed Mirage during the Ubisoft Forward presentation

Information about Mirage has been leaked in recent weeks and last Tuesday Ubisoft confirmed the existence of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. During the Forward presentation it was finally time to show more of the game.

Set in Baghdad, the game begins during the city’s golden age in the year 861. Players take on the role of Basim Ibn Ishaq, who we know from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, set twenty years after Mirage. In Valhalla we see Basim as a master assassin, but before that he was just a street thief. In Baghdad he meets Roshan – voiced by actress Shoreh Aghdashloo and leader of the Hidden Ones. Roshan becomes Basim’s mentor and trains him to become a full-fledged assassin.

Developer Ubisoft Bordeaux says it takes a lot of inspiration from the first Assassin’s Creed. The story is much more linear and the gameplay focuses on stealth. Basim has several tools at his disposal such as mines and poison darts. Although the RPG elements from previous games are no longer present, players can still upgrade their tools.

Parkour has also been overhauled. For example, Basim can use different poles to turn the corner or to cover great distances by launching itself. The gameplay of Mirage should be faster and more agile, not only in parkour, but also in combat.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released in 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. An exact release date was not given, but previous rumors point to a release in the spring.

News | The Forgotten Saga Now Available in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Ubisoft has released The Forgotten Saga for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

It is a free roguelike-like mode that was announced earlier this year. In it, players fight their way through Niflheim, the underworld of Norse mythology, while Loki’s daughter sends an army of enemies against them. According to the makers, it is the most ambitious game mode of the series ever. Anyone who has the game can download the mode now.

Ubisoft has also previously announced that it will come up with even more content for Valhalla. Towards the end of the year, a free narrative chapter will come to complete the story of protagonist Eivor. Finally, there will be more content in the coming year, including festivals, an update around armor, a new Mastery Challenge Pack, new tombs and a number of cosmetic items based on Assassin’s Creed Origins.

News | Skull and Bones will be shown on Thursday evening

This Thursday evening, Ubisoft will show more of the pirate game Skull and Bones during a livestream.

The company has announced that. This is done via a so-called Ubisoft Forward Spotlight that will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch from 20:00 Dutch time. The livestream can be viewed below from that moment on. New gameplay of the game should be shown during the presentation.

There have been a lot of rumors about Skull and Bones lately. The game has now been given an age rating in various countries and insiders claim that the game will be released on November 8. That release date may be officially announced during the presentation.

A video leaked last April showing what players can expect from Skull and Bones. The video, which features footage from a closed beta, showed players with a pirate crew taking on various missions in an open game world and then engaging in large-scale naval battles. Online multiplayer is an important part of the experience.

Players are also responsible for their ship’s cargo and can customize their character’s appearance as they please. The motivation of the crew must be taken into account, animals can be hunted and the ship can be upgraded.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced during its quarterly results that Skull and Bones should be released before April 2023. The game has been in development for years and has not been shown to the outside world outside of the leaked video for several years. That will change with the upcoming presentation.

Ubisoft has also been working on Assassin’s Creed Infinity for some time, a new main game in the franchise that is rumored to become some sort of overarching foundation for the franchise from which new adventures can be played. It is unknown if that game will be revealed tonight.
