News | More than fifty games will be shown during The Game Awards this year

More than fifty upcoming games will be reviewed during The Game Awards.

This has been announced by organizer and presenter Geoff Keighley to the Video Games website. “It is always a challenge because you work with more than fifty games. Then something always leaks out. But yes, we have quite a good past and we usually know how to hold some surprises.”

It is not yet known how many world premieres there are among the more than fifty games. “I don’t have an exact number, but it will be consistent with previous years. We have some already announced games showing completely new visuals and a lot of new games being revealed.”

The Game Awards will air on December 8. Like every year, awards are handed out to published games and a lot of upcoming games are shown. The nominations should be revealed later today.

It was also recently announced that The Game Awards is partnering with Discord this year. As a result, an official Discord server of The Game Awards will become available, where people can watch the show live together and vote on nominations. A ‘Best Community Support Award’ will also be handed out in collaboration with Discord.

News | The Game Awards 2022 vinden weer met publiek plaats

The Game Awards 2022 will take place on December 8 with an audience for the first time since 2019.

Geoff Keighley announced this on Twitter. The Game Awards 2022 will take place on December 8 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets for the event go on sale November 1.

Due to the corona measures, the presentation was produced completely remotely in 2020. Host Geoff Keighley chatted the announcements together from the studio, while live orchestra performances were streamed from London and Tokyo. Last year, only a limited number of invited guests attended the ceremony.

The event will take place in the state of California according to the corona rules. Visitors do not have to show a vaccination certificate or negative corona test. The organization calls on visitors who feel sick to stay at home.

Every year, during The Game Awards, prizes are awarded to released games. Game publications around the world contribute to the votes. Upcoming games are also regularly shown and new games revealed. It Takes Two won the game of the year award last year.

The first game is set in France in the year 1349, when the country is ravaged by the Black Death. Amicia must protect her younger brother Hugo while the two are pursued by the Inquisition and try to survive in the unforgiving world.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is coming to Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2022. The game will also be available on Game Pass immediately upon launch. The game will be released via cloud streaming on Nintendo Switch.
