News | New Game Plus update for Spider-Man 2 now available

A new update has been released for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, adding New Game Plus, among other things.

New Game Plus means that players can play through the game again after completing it, but with even higher levels, new styles for the Symbiote suit and new upgrades for gadgets. There’s even a new Trophy for people who complete New Game Plus mode.

The update also gives players the ability to change the time of the in-game day at any time. Missions can also be replayed and there are new packages for the main characters. Insomniac warns that the update consists of two patches.

However, the release of the update did not go entirely according to plan. The update allowed players to use a button combination to open the game’s debug menu, which is actually only intended for the developers. Parts of the game can be skipped via the menu and various modifications can be turned on and off. In addition, the menu showed missions that are not in the game and may indicate DLC, such as the mention of the character Beetle, who is not in the main game.

News | Wolverine is set in the same universe as Spider-Man games

Insomniac Games' upcoming Wolverine game is set in the same universe as the developer's Spider-Man games.

Creative director Bryan Intihar confirmed this to Kinda Funny Games. “They are all 1048,” he says of the games. He refers to a specific Marvel universe in which the games take place.

The Wolverine game was announced alongside Spider-Man 2 during a PlayStation Showcase in 2021. It is not known when the game will be released on PlayStation 5.

News | Special Editions of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Revealed

Sony PlayStation has revealed three editions of the upcoming PlayStation 5 game Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

For example, there is the standard edition of the game that will cost 79.99 euros. The Digital Deluxe Edition, as the name suggests, will only be released digitally and will cost 89.99 euros. This also includes all pre-order bonuses and ten unique packs (five for each hero), extra frames and stickers for photo mode, and two extra skill points.

Then there is a Collector’s Edition of 249.99 euros. It contains a code for the Digital Deluxe Edition, a steelbook and a figurine with Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting Venom. As far as we know, this edition will only be available through the PlayStation Direct store.

Anyone who pre-orders the game will be able to unlock the Arachknight Suit for Peter Parker earlier in the game. This one also comes with three extra colors. News | Map Spider-Man 2 twice the size of previous games

The environment players roam around in Spider-Man 2 is roughly twice the size of previous games.

That says creative director Bryan Intihar in conversation with the Japanese Famitsu. “We’ve added Queens and Brooklyn this time, so the map is about twice the size of the previous titles.”

“Because those two areas are smaller and more densely populated, they feel very different from Manhattan,” Intihar continues. “We made some unexpected situations that we’ve never done before, like a battle on the river between the two cities, so we hope you guys look forward to it.”

Meanwhile, Intihar told Eurogamer how switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales will work in the game. In the open world you can freely switch between the two, but in story missions you will be forced to control one of the two.

“When you’re playing the main story, we decide when you switch between Pete and Miles. It serves the purpose of the story,” says Intihar. In the open world it is different. “We have content designed for Peter, we have content designed for Miles, and we have content you can play as both. In the open world, you can switch between them at the touch of a button.”

“The quick switching between both characters in the open world is really, really great,” he continues. “I can just choose who I want to do a certain activity with…it’s great to have that feature.”

News | Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will not feature online co-op

Insomniac Games has confirmed therewill definitely be no cooperative mode in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

There was speculation yesterday about the possibility of the game featuring co-op gameplay after Miles Morales’ voice actor hinted at it. Insomniac immediately worked to nip that rumor in the bud by reporting on Twitter that this is not the case. “Nope, it’s an epic single player adventure!”

Nothing has been shown of the game since its reveal, but it’s likely that more images and details surrounding the game will be revealed tomorrow night at 10:00 PM GMT.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 sometime this fall. Insomniac is also working on a game around Wolverine.

Gameplay is reportedly being shown soon for the upcoming Spider-Man 2.

That is what insider Millie Amand claims on Twitter. Marvel is said to be impressed with the game and exceed expectations. According to a Marvel employee, the game is remarkably fluid. Another employee thought they were watching a cutscene while it was gameplay.

Amand says the gameplay will be shown soon. According to previous rumors, Sony will hold an event in September. This may be the event where the new gameplay will be shown.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was unveiled in September last year during a live Sony presentation. Since then, it has remained quiet around the game. The sequel to Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales centers on both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Although little is known yet, the previous  trailer makes it clear that Venom will be introduced in the game. Tony Todd (Candyman) provides the voice. Square Enix has released a cinematic trailer of Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers.

Earlier this month it was announced that Spider-Man will be added to the game at the end of November, but now there is also a trailer, although gameplay is missing for the time being.

Patch 2.2 will be released on all platform versions of the game on November 30. This includes the Discordant Sound raid, in which players take on the villainous Klaw. Here returns to the Vibranium Mound to destroy Wakana and players must put a stop to it.
