News | Sony will broadcast State of Play on Gran Turismo 7 on Wednesday

Sony will broadcast a State of Play on Wednesday evening that revolves entirely around Gran Turismo 7.

The company reports this on PlayStation Blog.
Viewers can expect more than thirty minutes of new footage from the PlayStation 5 version of the game, according to Sony. Various gameplay details are also revealed, with various modes being reviewed.

The livestream will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch on Wednesday 23:00 Dutch time.

Gran Turismo 7 will be released on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on March 4th. The new installment in the racing franchise packs several elements from the most recent installment in the series, Gran Turismo Sport, as well as the classic installments.

News | Sony may air new State of Play in February

Sometime in February, a livestream around PlayStation - presumably a new State of Play - will be broadcast.

That’s what journalist Tom Henderson claims. On Twitter, the insider, who regularly leaks information in advance, reports that the presentation could take place in February.

He bases this mainly on past event dates, but seems to know more: “It’s probably a State of Play, but could potentially become quite a big one.” According to PushSquare, Henderson also had contact with insiders who reported this.

For now, Sony has not announced a new livestream. The company is releasing God of War on PC this Friday, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5 on January 28, and Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 and PS4 on February 18. Gran Turismo 7 will be released on both consoles on March 4.

News | Sony gives new details about PlayStation VR2

Sony released new details about the PlayStation VR2 at CES 2022.

The new virtual reality headset will be officially called PlayStation VR2.
As expected, the headset shows a higher resolution than the first helmet: 4000 by 2040 pixels (or 2000 by 2040 per eye).
The HDR screen is an OLED, just like on the PSVR, but the field of view is 10 degrees more than the predecessor at 110 degrees.

Furthermore, PlayStation VR2 has inside-out tracking, so that a separate camera is not necessary.
Thanks to four cameras in the device itself, there is no need for colored LEDs on the device to keep track of where the player is.
These cameras also track the controllers. Also, in the helmet with cameras, players’ eyes are tracked, allowing players to use their eyes to control the camera.

Finally, both the helmet and the previously revealed controllers have vibrating motors that impart vibrations. The controllers are officially called the PlayStation VR2 Sense and, as previously announced, have adaptive triggers, finger detection and haptic feedback.
The PlayStation VR2 itself has not yet been shown.
It’s also not known when the helmet will be released, although it’s rumored to be going into mass production soon.

The full specs of PlayStation VR2 can be found on PlayStation Blog.
A game for PlayStation VR2 was also announced: Horizon Call of the Mountain.

The PlayStation VR2 game Horizon Call of the Mountain was unveiled last night.

Sony did that during CES 2022 and via PlayStation Blog. The company disclosed more details about the successor to the VR helmet PlayStation VR and then also unveiled the new game.

Horizon Call of the Mountain is supposed to be an all-new adventure within the Horizon franchise created especially for VR. “The beautiful graphics and new PSVR2 Sense controllers give new meaning to full immersion in the world of Horizon.”

Further details are not yet available – just like for the VR helmet, no release date for the game has yet been given. It is clear that the Dutch Guerrilla Games is collaborating with Firesprite for the development of the game. Below is a first teaser trailer.

Horizon Call of the Mountain isn’t the only game in development within the franchise. Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, will be released on February 18, 2022 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
