News | Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty features late actor's AI voice

In Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty, the voice of late actor Miłogost Reczek can be heard. This was made possible with the help of AI.

Reczek played the role of ‘ripperdoc’ Viktor Vektor in Cyberpunk 2077. He died shortly after the game was released. However, the character is also included in the recently released expansion Phantom Liberty.

That’s why CD Projekt Red used AI to recreate the actor’s voice. A new voice actor was hired to record the lyrics, after which a program called Respeecher was used to replace the voice tone with Reczek’s.

CD Projekt Red has received permission from the actor’s family for this, it told Bloomberg. Initially, Vektor’s voice was considered to be completely revoiced by another actor, but in the end it was decided against this because Reczek was “one of the best Polish voice actors”.
