News | Details about Skull and Bones gameplay leaked

A recent Skull and Bones playtest has leaked more details about the gameplay of Ubisoft's pirate game.

Based on the Skull and Bones playtest, Exputer lists some details about the game. According to journalist Tom Henderson, Skull and Bones does not contain player-vs-player combat. He already reported in 2021 that that will be the case for land battles, but it now also appears that there will be no ship battles between players.

Henderson says that in the playtest, players can’t get off their ships at all, although they can collect materials like ore and wood and food. Players do this by looking at land from their ship and collecting the materials from a distance by clicking a button. The looting of settlements works in a similar way; players must fire cannons to weaken the settlement, then send NPCs at it.

In Skull and Bones, players start with a small boat, which they can upgrade by collecting all kinds of materials. Ships are categorized into five classes, including small and large. There seem to be three types of ships: Combat which do more damage, Cargo which have more space for materials)and Exploration (sailing faster).

The morale of the ship’s crew is crucial in Skull and Bones, as the NPCs must be kept happy. Players do this by providing necessities such as food and drink; if that doesn’t go well, a mutiny takes place.

Skull and Bones is set to release in April 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It is unknown what Ubisoft plans to change and/or add to the game.

News | New The Division 2 Mode Lets Players Take Over Nuclear Power Plant

A new mode for Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is rolling out in which players must try to get a nuclear power plant out of the hands of the enemy. The new mode has been in development since early 2021

The new mode is called Countdown, is suitable for eight players and has been added to the game without any promotion. The current situation in Ukraine and in particular the fighting around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant seems to have influenced Ubisoft’s choice not to promote it.

Ubisoft informed Kotaku in a statement that the mode had been in development since early 2021. “Like the main game, the mode is fictional and has nothing to do with current events.”

Countdown can now be played via The Division 2’s public test servers. It is not yet known when the mode will be available to everyone.

News | A big Assassin's Creed Valhalla patch comes out on Tuesday

Ubisoft details a major update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla due out next Tuesday.

Update 1.5.0 is 9 to 16 GB in size , depending on the platform,  and contains a host of bug fixes, including a bug that made it impossible to complete the A Brewing Storm quest. Stealth gameplay improvements have also been made; Among other things, enemies stay on their guard longer when Eivor ducks, and they respond better to his whistle.

New is the Saga difficulty setting, where players don’t have to worry about combat and stealth. Enemies deal less damage in this mode and give you more time to perform stealth moves if Eivor is seen.

The update also gives players more control over battle settings. You can now adjust how much damage Eivor takes, how much he inflicts himself, how quickly he heals, how quickly his adrenaline refills and how much life the enemies have.

Finally, update 1.5.0 adds more controller support to the PC version (Nintendo Switch Pro and Stadia), and prepares the game for the arrival of the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion. In that DLC, which according to Ubisoft contains about 35 hours of content, players take on the role of Odin as he goes in search of the dwarf world Svartalfheim.

These are the download sizes of update 1.5.0 for all platforms:

Far Cry 6 accidentally added a mission with actor Danny Trejo too early this week.

The mission ‘Dani & Danny vs Everybody’ was still in development and should not be released as downloadable content until December. However, an early version of the DLC was added to the game earlier this week. Below are images of the mission.

News | PETA Wants To See Cockfights removed from Far Cry 6

Animal rights group PETA would like to see Ubisoft take a cockfighting minigame from the recently released Far Cry 6.

The organization criticizes the minigame, in which players can optionally participate in a cockfight. The whole thing is presented as a fighting game.

“Incorporating a horrific blood sport like cockfighting into a Mortal Kombat-esque gameplay segment cannot be seen as innovative, as today’s society strongly disapproves of forced fights between animals to the death,” the organization said in a statement.

PETA has been making a lot of noise when it comes to how animal behavior is portrayed in games. For example, hunting animals in Far Cry games has also been touched upon before. Last year, PETA criticized Animal Crossing: New Horizons for allowing players to catch insects and fish and then display them in a museum.

News | Actor Giancarlo Esposito tells more about Far Cry 6

Esposito is best known for his role as Gustavo Fring in the series Breaking Bad, but in Far Cry 6 he plays the role of dictator Antón Castillo. Players will therefore compete against him. In the videos below he tells more about his role and the game itself.

In Far Cry 6, players control Yara native Dani Rojas, who fights for freedom as a guerrilla fighter in the jungles, beaches and capital Esperanza. Players determine the gender and appearance of Dani, although she was shown as a female character in the trailer.

Far Cry 6 is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Epic Games Store, Uplay, and Google Stadia on October 7.
