News | Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will no longer be released in 2021
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 komt niet meer dit jaar uit, zo heeft uitgever Paradox laten weten.
Developer Hardsuit Labs is also being dropped from the project, and Paradox is setting up a still-unknown studio to develop the rest of the game. “This was a tough decision, but we are convinced it is the way to do justice to the game.”
Bloodlines 2 development has been plagued with problems so far. The game has been postponed several times and is expected to be released sometime in the second half of 2021 until today. Hardsuit Labs had previously been fired, including lead writer Brian Mitsoda and creative director Ka’ai Cluney. Narrative designer Chris Avellone was also fired and all of his work was removed from the game after several people in the game industry accused him of sexual harassment.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One and PC. The game takes place in Seattle, where a blood war between different vampire factions is going on. The story changes depending on whether the player can keep humanity from thinking that vampires don’t exist.
News | Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 postponed
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been postponed from the first quarter of 2020 to somewhere later next year.
A precise new release date is not yet available. The delay was announced by developer Hardsuit Labs via a blog post, accessible via the tweet below.
“We need more time to create the game that you are waiting for,” said Andy Kipling and Brian Mitsoda. “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is still coming out in 2020, but we believe quality is more important than releasing the game in the first quarter. It was not an easy choice. During 2019 we improved our processes and expanded our teams, but it soon became clear that this was not enough to deliver quality on the agreed date. “
Bloodlines 2 is set in Seattle, where a blood war is going on between various vampire actions. The story adapts depending on whether the player can ensure that humanity continues to think that vampires do not exist. In terms of gameplay, developer Hardsuit Labs promises fast melee combat and a complete city to explore.
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 will launch later in 2020 than we planned. Simply put, we believe quality is more important than releasing in Q1.
