News | Star Wars Outlaws story trailer is now available to watch

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game from The Division developer Massive Entertainment. The trailer offers us the first details about the game's story.

Star Wars Outlaws’ August 30 release date was accidentally announced a few hours before the trailer went online, but the trailer reveals a lot more about the game’s story.

Star Wars Outlaws centers on new character Kay Vess, who, according to the trailer, is a relative newcomer to the underworld, but has been taking care of herself and the adorable Merqaal Nix since she was little. In the game we get to see how Kay navigates the universe when it is more dangerous than ever.

The game takes place between Episode 5 and Episode 6 of the Star Wars films, meaning the civil war between the Empire and the Rebellion is in full swing. Something that the underworld is only too happy to take advantage of. A new character in the franchise, Sliro, appears to take charge of the criminal factions, after which Kay tries to steal something from him.

How the story will ultimately turn out is of course still a surprise, but we can start working on this new story in August. Players who pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition will receive three days early access to Star Wars Outlaws, as well as a number of cosmetic rewards. The Ultimate Edition also includes the game’s Season Pass, which gives players two post-launch expansions.

Star Wars Outlaws will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and PC.

News | Ubisoft shows first gameplay footage Star Wars Outlaws

Ubisoft has shown the first gameplay footage of Star Wars Outlaws.

The trailer shows a segment in which stealth and combat are central. You can also see how the partner Nix can be used. The video is ten minutes long and can be viewed in full below.

The game is described as the first ever Star Wars open world game. The game takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Players will discover both iconic and new planets and galaxies in the game. They take on the role of Kay Vess and her partner Nix. She must commit a gigantic robbery.

The game is being developed by Massive, in collaboration with LucasFilm Games, and will be released next year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. The game runs on Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine.

Hardware | Seagate Unveils Star Wars SSDs with Lightsaber Heat Spreaders

Storage manufacturer Seagate now also offers Star Wars variants of FirceCuda SSDs, including three lightsaber-themed heat spreaders.

The SSD in question is the same FireCuda PCIe 4.0 gaming model that the manufacturer has been betting on for some time; an M.2 drive with maximum read speeds of up to 7,300 MB/s. In the Star Wars theme, the SSD comes in volumes of 1 TB and 2 TB, where previous FireCuda models also came in 500 GB versions.

As a unique addendum, the so-called ‘Lightsaber Collection’ edition invariably comes with three unique heat spreaders, respectively in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker themes. Each heatsink places its iconic lightsaber right on top of the SSD, with a strip of freely adjustable RGB diodes for lighting.

Seagate seems to offer the world’s first official Star Wars-themed SSDs with the unique collaboration. Incidentally, this novelty does not characterize the first Star Wars hardware in general: at the end of 2017, for example, Nvidia launched two more Star Wars-style Titan Xp video cards, with a green-lit Jedi Order and a red-hot Galactic Empire version, respectively.

News | 'Star Wars Eclipse inspired by The Last of Us'

The upcoming Quantic Dream game Star Wars Eclipse is said to be partly inspired by The Last of Us.

That reports Twitter user AccountNGT, who already leaked a screenshot of the trailer a week before the game was officially announced. The relationship between story and gameplay would mainly correspond to the well-known Naughty Dog game.

According to the Twitter user, Eclipse should be an open world adventure game and the game also contains a multiplayer mode, which is being developed by the Montream team at Quantic Dream. Development would have started in early 2021, so it would still be at an early stage.

The above information has not been officially confirmed by Quantic Dream, but since the Twitterer in question also showed a screenshot of the reveal trailer beforehand, the information seems reliable.

Star Wars Eclipse is set during the High Republic era. In the game, players take on the roles of various characters, with choices affecting the state in the Outer Rim of the universe. An official release date and systems are yet to be announced.

News | Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the fastest selling Star Wars game on PC

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the fastest selling Star Wars game from EA on PC ever.

Publisher Electronic Arts has announced this via a press release. The company bases this on the first two weeks since the game was on sale. Specific sales figures are not given.

In addition, the company says it is the fastest-selling launch of a digital Star Wars game ever. Including physical copies, it is therefore likely that another Star Wars game will be sold faster on launch – although EA does not say which game that is.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single player action adventure developed by Respawn Entertainment. The game is set after Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Gamers play as Cal while trying to survive and stay out of the hands of the Galactic Empire. During his journey Cal visits both new worlds and iconic planets from Star Wars stories.
