News | The Outlast Trials announced

Via Facebook and Twitter developer Red Barrels announces that a new Outlast game is coming up called The Outlast Trials.

The Outlast Trials is a multiplayer game set in the Cold War era. The game supports multiplayer up to four players, but it can also be played in single player. It takes place in the same universe as the two predecessors, but is not a continuation of Outlast 1 and 2.

“The Outlast Trials allow players to brave the atrocities of the trials themselves or to collaborate with up to 3 other test subjects,” said Red Barrels. Test subjects is a word that makes it think that it is going to take place in a kind of laboratory, but that is not confirmed. In the Facebook message, Red Barrel states the following: “Now that we’ve done our proof of concept, it’s time to focus on content creation, variety … and gore.” Via the Tweet and the Facebook message, a poster shared.

Nothing else is known about a possible release date or for which platforms the game appears.

News | Outlast studio hints at new game.

Developer Red Barrels, known from the Outlast games, posted a tweet yesterday that hints at an announcement of a new game.

To celebrate Halloween, the developer posted the tweet yesterday. “Announcement is coming soon”, the company reports, with artwork below of what may be the next game from the studio.

More information is not yet available, but in terms of color use the artwork seems to correspond to the Outlast series. It could therefore be a third Outlast game.

It has been more than two years since the horror game Outlast 2 was released. The original in particular was praised for the exciting course of the game, players had to flee from monsters instead of starting the attack themselves. In addition, the original had the advantage that it was one of the first games to be given away for free via PlayStation Plus.
