News | Sony summarizes God of War story ahead of Ragnarök

To get people ready for the upcoming God of War Ragnarök, Sony has released a video summarizing the story of the previous God of War.

In the video, actress Felicia Day tells what happened in the 2018 God of War. In this way, newcomers will soon also be able to get started with Ragnarök and people who played God of War a few years ago will be reminded of all the events. Incidentally, the character Mimir also stops by.

The video does not contain any footage from God of War: Ragnarök. Those who prefer a refresher course through text rather than video can check out PlayStation Blog.

God of War Ragnarök is the direct sequel to the 2018 God of War, which was another ‘soft reboot’ of the long-running action series. Once again Kratos and his son embark on an adventure in the Norse mythological kingdoms. This time, all nine different realms can be explored. The game will be released on November 9 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

News | God of War Ragnarök Releases November 9 for PS4 and PS5

Sony and Sony Santa Monica Studio confirm God of War Ragnarök release date for November 9 and unveil the Collector's and Jötnar Editions.

After weeks of speculation and apparently last minute canceled announcements of the release date of God of War Ragnarök, the redeeming word is finaly here. The game will be released on November 9 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Sony and developer Sony Santa Monica Studio have announced this.

A thirty-second cinematic trailer featuring Kratos and Atreus, titled “Father and Son,” has also been shared. The trailer does not consist of gameplay footage and is therefore completely animated with CG.

In the trailer, Kratos and Atreus take on a group of enemies; Kratos with his ax and Atreus with his bow and arrow. A giant wolf can be seen in the final shot of the trailer. This is probably Fenrir, in Norse mythology the son of Loki (god of deception) and brother of Hel (goddess of the underworld).

PlayStation also released a video where Santa Monica Studio Art Director Rafael Grassetti and Ryan Hurst, the motion capture and voice actor of Thor, unbox the Collector’s and Jötnar Editions.

News | Voice actor Kratos"states delay God of War: Ragnarok "is my fault

God of War: Ragnarok will not be released until 2022, according to Christopher Judge, the voice actor behind main character Kratos states it's his fault.

He reported this on Twitter. He tells there that he could not walk in 2019 and had an operation on his back. His hips were also replaced and he had knee surgery. “They (Santa Monica Studio) have been waiting for me to recover.”

In a follow-up tweet, he says that no one within the developer got mad at him. When the game was unveiled last year, there was still a release year of 2021, but it is now known that the game will be released in 2022. “Santa Monica has never disclosed the reason for the delay.” Judge therefore praises the way the developer has dealt with this.

Judge also shares a fun fact about the new God of War director, Eric Williams. “Barlog (the director of the previous God of War) told me Eric is a beast. Update: Eric is a motherf*ckin beast!”

News | First Trailer God of War: Ragnarok Shown

Sony has released the first trailer for God of War: Ragnarok.

The company did so during the PlayStation Showcase tonight. The new God of War was already announced last year through a teaser. Then 2021 was mentioned as the release year in the teaser, but earlier this year Sony already indicated that the game would only be released in 2022.

The trailer shows various locations in the game. Kratos and his son Atreus head out again and can visit all nine realms instead of the six from the previous God of War. The duo is looking for the Norse god of war, Tyr.

In addition, Ryan Hurst, an actor best known for his role as Opie from the Sons of Anarchy series, is known to play the role of Thor. It has also been announced that Cory Barlog will not direct the new God of War. Eric Williams takes over – he has worked on all the games in the series.

Finally, developer Sony Santa Monica reported that God of War: Ragnarok is the final part of the ‘Norwegian series’ of God of War. After that, the series may therefore focus on other settings.

God of War: Ragnarok is the direct sequel to the 2018 God of War. In it, Kratos does not compete against the Greek gods, but against the gods from Norse mythologies. In doing so, he uses a special ax that returns to him after throwing it at enemies or objects. The game was particularly well received by the worldwide press and gamers.

God of War is coming to both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2022. Watch the trailer below.

News | God of War: Ragnarok postponed to 2022

God of War: Ragnarok, the sequel to the 2018 God of War, will not be released until 2022.

This was reported by PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst in a question session on PlayStation Blog. “We’ve made the decision to release (God of War) next year to make sure Santa Monica Studio can deliver the great God of War game we all want to play.”

Then Santa Monica Studio posted a message on Twitter reporting the same. In addition, 2022 will also be adhered to so that the safety of employees and their families can be guaranteed.

God of War: Ragnarok was unveiled last year with a teaser. That included the release year 2021. Still, most gamers were under the assumption that the game would not come out this year.

In the interview with Hermen Hulst, he also confirmed that the game is coming to PlayStation 4. The game was already confirmed for PlayStation 5, but the new God of War will also be released on Sony’s previous console.

News | PS5 update for God of War is out today

A PlayStation 5 patch for the PS4 game God of War will be released later today.

According to developer Sony Santa Monica, the free patch replaces the current graphics mode in the game with a “new default setting that allows PS5 players to experience both the best performance and resolution.”

While players on PlayStation 4 can choose between graphics and resolution, on PS5 there is no need to make a choice after the patch. The game then always runs in 60 frames per second and a resolution of 4K checkerboard (at 2160p).

God of War appeared in 2018 and places Kratos in a Norwegian setting with his son. The game is available for free to all PlayStation 5 gamers with a PlayStation Plus subscription through the PlayStation Plus Collection. Sony Santa Monica, meanwhile, is working on a sequel, God of War: Ragnarok. According to a trailer released last year, that game should be released this year, although no further details have been announced since that initial announcement.
