News | New World Open Beta Announced

An open beta of Amazon Games' New World was announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live.

It looks set to be Amazon Games’ first successful game as the current closed beta is popular on Steam. Amazon’s Lord of the Rings mmo was canceled and the multiplayer game Crucible was also removed after launch.

Despite the large player numbers, the New World beta did not run smoothly. Last month it was revealed that beta testers had broken video cards – especially the GeForce RTX 3090. This seemed to be due to too high frame rates being reached. Amazon said it has no indication that it is a widespread problem, but released a patch that locks the number of framerates per second.

The open beta is from September 9 to 12. The mmo will be released in full on September 28.

News | Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground Revealed

Focus Home Interactive has announced the strategy game Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground.

The game, developed by Gasket Games, was unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live last night. The trailer does not show any gameplay, but some screenshots have been released.

In Storm Ground, the first strategy game based on Games Workshops Age of Sigmar, players take on the role of a commander to engage in epic battles. Players can customize their own troops for turn-based combat in a non-linear campaign.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is set to release on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch sometime in 2021.
