News | Nominations for The Game Awards announced

The nominations for this year's The Game Awards have been announced.

Deathloop has a chance to win nine different awards and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has been nominated in six categories. It Takes Two and Pscyhonauts 2 are also popular with both five nominations.

The nominations have been chosen by the worldwide game press. The editors of Gamer.nl and sister site PU.nl also voted. The eventual winners are chosen before a jury of experts and fans. Last year, The Last of Us: Part 2 won seven awards.

News | Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice wins best game of the year award

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won the award for best game of the year at The Game Awards last night.

The game beat games like Resident Evil 2, Death Stranding and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sekiro also won the award for best action adventure game.

Other winners included Death Stranding (best game management, best music, best acting by Mads Mikkelsen), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (best audio design), Disco Elysium (best indie game, best rpg, best narrative), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (best fighter), Luigi’s Mansion 3 (best family game) and Devil May Cry 5 (best action game).

News | Nominations for The Game Awards 2019 announced

The nominations for The Game Awards 2019 have been announced.

The six games that have a chance to win the prize for game of the year are Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Control, The Outer Worlds, Death Stranding, Resident Evil 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Smash Bros. Ultimate appeared at the end of 2018 and could therefore no longer participate in The Awards last year.

The Game Awards 2019 will be held on the night of 12 to 13 December. In addition to awarding awards, new announcements are made every year and trailers for games are shown.
