News | First invitations to new Diablo 4 beta have been sent out

The first invitations for the new Diablo 4 beta in which the endgame can be tested have been sent out.

This is reported by fans on Reddit and ResetEra. A small group of people who have spent a lot of time in the endgame of Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal receive an invitation to test elements for after completing Diablo 4. These include Nightmare Dungeons, Whispers of the Dead, Fields of Hatred, Paragon Boards, and Helltide.

Blizzard explained last week why it focuses the new beta on endgame content. The company wants to keep the full story of the game a secret, and instead introduce players to content that becomes available afterwards. “For many, the endgame is also the favorite aspect of Diablo. We want to make sure that it is very satisfying and that there is no lack of varied challenges.”

The closed beta is playable for a number of people on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One. Cross-play and cross-progression are also available. Diablo 4 itself should be released sometime in 2023. Blizzard previously emphasized that the game will not be pay-to-win.

News | World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic Coming September 26

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be available on September 26.

Blizzard has officially announced this. The expansion to World of Warcraft Classic is free for all people who have a World of Warcraft subscription. The release date leaked out recently and now it appears to be correct.

Last April, Blizzard announced Wrath of the Lich King Classic. It should be an authentic experience for players who have played the original, as well as a fantastic adventure for newcomers, according to producer Holly Longdale.

The expansion adds two new areas to the cold Northrend, in the form of Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra. The Death Knight class is also added. The experience should be almost the same as the release of the original expansion for World of Warcraft from 2008. What is different is that mission icons are not visible on the playing card from release and that the dungeon finder is replaced by the group finder.

News | Blizzard stops making new content for Heroes of the Storm

Blizzard will no longer develop new content for Heroes of the Storm. The game will continue to receive bug fixes.

The company made the announcement in a blog post. However, the game must continue to be supported with bug fixes. Also, heroes and seasons continue to alternate. The in-game store will also remain active, although no new content will be added.

To thank players who have stuck with them all these years, everyone will receive a mount in the form of the Epic Arcane Lizard next week.

The moba Heroes of the Storm came out in 2015. Former Blizzard director Mike Morhaime already said in 2019 that the company was struggling to make the game really popular, because the game would have been released too late to profit from the popularity of the moba. In 2018, the team behind the game was reduced in size and official tournaments were canceled a year later.

Overwatch 2 will replace the first Overwatch on release, Blizzard has clarified.

That’s what Blizzard announced in a Reddit AMA. In fact, Overwatch players will download a patch on October 4 that turns the game into Overwatch 2.

As part of that, all credits, OWL tokens and competitive points will also be transferred to the second part. However, the second part must contain a new currency to which the in-game money is transferred. Unopened loot boxes will also be opened automatically before Overwatch 2 comes out, as the second part does not contain any loot boxes.

When Overwatch 2 releases on October 4 as a free-to-play game on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, it will include 5v5 matches and the addition of new maps and heroes. The PvE campaign mode should be out sometime in 2023. The beta will start on June 28.

The frontline tank Junker Queen can deal a lot of damage at close range with her axe and shotgun. Her axe which is called Jagged Blade, can also be thrown. She also has a Carnage move and Rampage as ultimate, which inflicts injuries on enemies. Those wounds do damage over time and also give Junker Queen health through her passive move Adrenaline Rush.

Junker Queen will be playable in the upcoming Overwatch 2 beta. The beta begins on June 28 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net. Here players can already try out all kinds of content, including the 5v5 matches.

Overwatch 2 will be released as a free-to-play game on October 4. The Early Access version will be out that day on Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Infinity Ward and Activision have revealed the first gameplay trailer and with it the first official information for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Some details about the game have also been revealed. Well-known characters such as John ‘Soap’ McTavivish’ and Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley return in the campaign, of which one mission is set in Amsterdam. The game uses a renewed water system, which should make water look more realistic.

Furthermore, the game features a Rainbow Six-esque mode called Prisoner Rescue, and Knockout, where players have to hold onto a bag of money for as long as possible.

The game will be released on October 28 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC.

News | World of Warcraft players must agree to social contract starting today

With the arrival of patch 9.2.5, World of Warcraft players must agree to a social contract  starting from today.

Anyone who starts World of Warcraft for the first time from today will be welcomed in the mmorpg with a ‘Social Contract’. Among other things, players must indicate that they will do their best to make new friends, to work together as a team with others in dungeons and raids, for example, and to answer questions from new players.

Also, as part of that social contract, Blizzard lists some behaviors that “will not be accepted”: “Hate speech and negative comments directed at other players’ identities, including aspects such as race, gender and their ability. Harassment, threats and abusive/derogatory language and behavior.” And “spamming, advertising and other disruptive behavior”.

Anyone who does not follow the rules and “harms” other players can be punished, with the maximum penalty being ban from the account. “It’s a big world, with all kinds of people in it. So please try to be respectful to each other, and if you feel someone is breaking this Code of Conduct, please report it so our team can look into it. Together we can make World of Warcraft a safe home away from home for everyone.”

Players can collect so-called minis, more than sixty will be available on release,  to use during battles. The game features PvE and PvP battles, co-op, raids, dungeons, and guilds.

Warcraft Arclight Rumble will be free-to-play and coming to iOS and Android. A release date has not yet been announced, but a closed beta should be held sometime soon.

News | First Overwatch 2 beta invites going out tonight

The first invites to the Overwatch 2 beta will go out tonight at 8:00 PM.

Blizzard made this known in a FAQ published yesterday. People who have registered have a chance to receive an e-mail with access. It is also possible that more people will be invited at a later time, so people who do not receive an email tonight can still receive it later.

You can always register via the official website. Players must have installed the first Overwatch anyway to be in with a chance. However, the first Overwatch can be downloaded as a free trial by those who have received an invite during the beta period – so there is no need to purchase the original specifically for the beta of part 2.

Tomorrow, specific streamers will broadcast gameplay from the beta on Twitch. People who watch a stream for at least four hours can also access the beta via Twitch Drops. The list of streamers can be found here.

The beta will be on PC only and must include 5v5 gameplay. Players can try out the new Push mode as well as four new maps: Circuit Royal (escort), Midtown (hybrid), New Queen Screen (push), and Colosseo (push). The new hero Sojourn is also playable, as well as four new versions of well-known heroes: Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion and Sombra. The beta period will run until May 17.
