Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which has been playable since yesterday for those who pre-ordered the Gold and Ultra versions of the game, is being plagued by server issues.

Although the game will not officially be released until next Monday, people who purchased a more expensive edition of the game have been able to get started since yesterday. However, many early players have been complaining on social media about problems when they want to join a server. The screen would regularly get stuck on the ‘joining server’ screen after completing a mission.

Focus Entertainment has already communicated that they are aware of the problems and are currently working on a solution. Despite the criticism that the game is now receiving because of this, the Steam average of user reviews is still ‘mostly positive’ at the time of writing, although more and more complaints are coming in about the server problems.

Additionally, there have been some complaints about the fact that an Epic Online Service client is installed when installing the game via Steam. Focus has since confirmed that this is for optimal cross-platform play, and that linking a Steam account to an Epic account is not required. Nevertheless, some people are complaining about the client being installed ‘secretly’.
