Ubisoft has released the first cinematic trailer for Assassin's Creed Shadows, previously called Codename Red. The game will be released on November 15.

The trailer shows that the rumors are true: the game revolves around two characters, the Japanese shinobi Naeo and the samurai Yasuke. The latter is the first main character in the Assassin’s Creed series to be based on a person who actually lived. Players can decide who they play with and each character has their own progression system.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players visit sixteenth century Japan and follow the story of the two characters mentioned above. The game is set during the Sengoku period, a time in Japan of warfare and domestic crises.

Ubisoft writes: “Explore the captivating open world of feudal Japan, from spectacular castle towns and busy ports to peaceful altars and pastoral landscapes. Adventure through unpredictable weather, changing seasons and environments that respond to you.”

As Naeo, players can use sound, light and shadows to ensure they can infiltrate locations unseen. She can distract soldiers with smoke bombs and shuriken, and she can infiltrate enemy bases with a grappling hook and parkour skills. She also has the hidden blade to take out enemies.

Samurai Yasuke uses deadly precision and strength to take on his opponents. He can attack, block, parry and uses katana and bows, among other things.

According to Ubisoft, players can scour environments to find “important intel” and build a network of spies who will be “your eyes and ears to reveal new locations and hunt for your next target.” Throughout the game, players can also team up with specific allies who have special skills. You can also create your own shelter and adjust it to your own taste.

The game is now available for pre-order – people who do so will receive a bonus mission. There will also be Gold and Ultimate editions (including the season pass), and finally a Collector’s Edition with a statue and other extras. In addition to the trailer and a feature about the main characters, four screenshots can also be seen below, as well as a photo of the Collector’s Edition.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC (Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store), Mac (Mac App Store) and Amazon Luna.
