After previous rumors, it has now been confirmed that work is underway on Cities: Skylines 2.

Rumors of the game being revealed were circulating yesterday afternoon, and during a livestream last night, publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Colossal Order officially announced the game. A first trailer was also shown, although no direct gameplay is shown.

Players can build the city of their dreams in this sequel. “The game offers deep simulation and a living economy,” the game’s description reads. “The city evolves and responds to your decisions. Use creative and strategic planning skills to grow your city into a healthy metropolis that attracts businesses, residents and tourists.” The graphics should also be a lot better than those of the first game.

Cities: Skylines 2 is due out sometime this year on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The game will also appear on Xbox Game Pass. The complete press release surrounding the announcement can be found here.
