The first playtest for Project Rene, the new The Sims game announced earlier this week, is set to begin next Tuesday.

Website Insider Gaming claims to have found out. An email has leaked and sources within Elecronic Arts are said to have confirmed it. It would be a test of the pre-release version of the game.

When Project Rene was announced, EA already indicated that a play test would be made available for a small selection of players, but it was not known at the time that the test would be held so soon.

EA announced Project Rene earlier this week. “We’re building a next-generation Sims game that also serves as a creative platform,” said franchise vice president Lyndsay Pearson. “We’re reinventing The Sims you know and love with new ways to play. This is the future of The Sims, built on the foundation of charming Sims, powerful tools and meaningful stories.”

Unique to the game is that players can work alone or with others. Not only can patterns and colors of objects such as furniture be adjusted, but even the shape of objects can be adjusted. Furthermore, EA emphasizes that the same experience should be offered on all available platforms, including mobile.
