Electronic Arts has announced that it is working on a new The Sims game, codenamed Project Rene.
A presentation about the popular franchise was held yesterday, which can be viewed in its entirety below. At the end of the presentation, Project Rene was mentioned.
“We’re building a next-generation Sims game that also serves as a creative platform,” said franchise vice president Lyndsay Pearson. “We’re reinventing The Sims you know and love with new ways to play. This is the future of The Sims, built on the foundation of charming Sims, powerful tools and meaningful stories.”
Unique to the game is that players can work alone or with others. Not only can patterns and colors of objects such as furniture be adjusted, but even the shape of objects can be adjusted. Furthermore, EA emphasizes that the same experience should be offered on all available platforms, including mobile.
EA will provide updates on the game’s development “in the coming years”. Over time, Project Rene should be available through early access to a small group of players.
