Rockstar stops major updates for Red Dead Online. The developer wants to focus more on the development of the new Grand Theft Auto.

Rockstar reports this on their official website. “Over the past few years, we have steadily moved more and more development resources into the new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” the developer writes. “More than ever, we understand that we need to exceed player expectations and make sure the next installment is possible, so we’re making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online.”

Going forward, Rockstar will build on pre-existing modes in Red Dead Online rather than adding new modes and major updates. So players don’t have to expect big themed events anymore. New Telegram Missions will be added later this year. Rockstar will continue to support the game with patches and seasonal events.

Rockstar announced earlier this year that the new game in the Grand Theft Auto series is officially in development. “With GTAV’s unprecedented popularity, we know that many of you are curious about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we start, our goal is to improve significantly compared to what we’ve delivered before. We are pleased to now officially confirm that active development for the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway,” the developer said in a press release.
