Second Dinner, the studio of former Hearthstone designer Ben Brode, has announced its first game: Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap will be a collectible card game (CCG) based on the Marvel movies and comics, bringing together (anti-)heroes from all kinds of teams such as the X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy. The game comes out for smartphones and PC.

Developer Second Dinner calls Marvel Snap “the fastest CCG ever” because the game has to be played in short, “action-packed” rounds. On average, a round of Marvel Snap should last three minutes. Players each have a deck of fifteen cards at their disposal. When the game comes out, there should be a total of about 150 playing cards available.

Marvel Snap is unlike games like Hearthstone and Legends of Runeterra, where players take turns laying down a card. Players can place their cards simultaneously in Marvel Snap. Ben Brode, previously one of Hearthstone’s chief designers, says players can only have one of each card in their deck to ensure both players have “the same strategic depth.”
