Amazon Games' mmo New World launched yesterday and has attracted a large amount of players.

In the first 24 hours of launch, there were 707,230 concurrent players on the game at its busiest time, according to figures from SteamDB. It is currently the second most popular game on Steam after Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

New World came out in beta earlier this year and was able to attract many players back then. There were, however, reports of gamers who had broken graphics cards after playing the game, but this would be fixed shortly afterwards with a patch.

New World is Amazon Games’ first successful game. Amazon’s Lord of the Rings mmo was canceled and the multiplayer game Crucible was also removed after launch.
