Sony plans to return cross-play in more PlayStation games.

This is reported by PlayStation director Jim Ryan in an interview with Axios. “We support and encourage cross-play.” He then went on to mention some games where cross-play works, such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, Minecraft and Rocket League. “The number of games (that support that) will continue to grow.”

The way Sony seems to embrace cross-play today is a big difference from a few years ago. It was the last company to release consoles that gave in to the demand from developers and gamers to allow cross-play. A document released during the Apple-Epic lawsuit describes how Sony wants to see money from developers and publishers who allow cross-play in their PlayStation games when in-game purchases are made by less than 85 percent of its players.
