The open beta for the PlayStation 5 version of mmo Final Fantasy 14 starts today.

Anyone can take the test by choosing Final Fantasy PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Vesion) from PlayStation Store. People who already play the game on PS4 can choose the PS5 version to download from their PS5 directly from the Game Library.

According to a new post on PlayStation Blog, players can choose from three options: 4k (2160p), WQHD (1440p) and Full HD (1090p). The latter two options display gameplay in 60 fps, while in 4k the game runs around 40 fps.

In addition, the PS5 version gets 91 new Trophies, with 53 Trophies for the base game and 38 Trophies for the various expansions. Furthermore, the PS5 version of the game uses 3D audio and also haptic feedback via the DualSense controller.

The beta is intended to run for as long as it needs to be before the final version launches – although all progress made will be included. In addition, players of the PS4 version can bring their character and progression to the PS5 beta.
