After it was almost assumed that Gamescom would not be held physically this year, the organization behind the fair has now officially confirmed this.

A message on Twitter announced that they’re disappointed that Gamescom cannot continue this year, but that there are major plans for a digital event.

The organization should reveal more about this event in the coming weeks. It is already known that Gamescom: Opening Night live, the show organized by Geoff Keighley, will continue as usual.

On Wednesday, the German government announced that major coronavirus events should no longer be held in the country until the end of August. Gamescom was scheduled for August 25-29. Due to the enforcement of the German government, it was almost certain that the stock exchange would not go through, but now it has been officially confirmed.
