Today 2K  announces the existence of a new game in the BioShock series. Apart from the fact that the development is being done by the new studio Cloud Chamber, few details are known.

Cloud Chamber has offices in Montreal, Canada and California, United States and is led by Kelley Gilmore, who previously worked on Civilization games and Xcom: Enemy Unknown and Xcom 2. 2K President David Ismailer said the following about the new game: “BioShock is one of the most beloved, award-winning and top-rated series of the previous console generation. We can’t wait to see in which direction the powerful story and unmistakable first-person-shooter gameplay are headed by our new studio team from Cloud Chamber. ”

No details about the new BioShock have been shared. It is therefore not clear whether the game is set at an existing location from the series, such as Rapture or Columbia, or whether a completely new setting has been chosen.

In April rumors about a new BioShock and a new studio appeared. According to reports from Kotaku, the game is codenamed ‘Parkside’. Last month, a number of clues about a new part also appeared in the franchise. Take-Two, for example, reported during a financial presentation that “prosecution of our biggest game franchises” were coming. There was also a vacancy for a developer who could form the endgame of an unannounced game focused on “live services”. Possibly this means that the game will get a similar set-up at some point as Borderlands 3, Destiny 2 or other ‘live’ games.

In an interview Gilmore from Cloud Chamber announced that the new BioShock will “be in development for several years”. Chances are that the game will appear in 2021 at the earliest and is under development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett.
